June 2008 - Version 2.2 Launched

The growing population of RememBird users has been busy feeding back ideas and suggestions for enhancements to the recorder and PC/Mac software. Version 2.2 is the result of working closely with respected ornithologists and other field scientists to fine-tune the system - making their copious time-stamped note-taking and subsequent processing as efficient as possible. They can now save considerable time, not to mention weight and cost, by using RememBird for their surveys and behavioural studies. The picture shows a RememBird (lower left) complementing one primatologist’s handheld PC.

New features that appeal to these users include:

• Powerful database backup, restore and import tools to help protect and share recordings
• Export whole sessions of annotated recordings as an Excel spreadsheet and folder of mp3 files. Links within the spreadsheet let you play each recording with a single click.
• Precise control over the timing, separation and upload of recordings; Improved handling of long unattended (e.g. overnight) recordings; ability to add visit and note details even if you didn’t record anything
• A configurable delay between playing successive recordings – making it much easier to transcribe recordings – tallying counts as you go without having to keep pausing and restarting.
